Non-Residential Community Waivers
The Non-Residential Community Waiver is a Medicaid waiver contract with the Department of Developmental Disabilities of Department of Human Services and Oklahoma Healthcare Authority. The individuals’ needs are greater than what the in-home support waiver can support. There is not a waiver cap for services however it is needs based. So, the different types of services that are on the waiver are: Habitation Training Specialist/Direct Support Person, Employment Services, Psych Services, Nutrition Services, Respite Services, Non-Emergency Transportation, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Medical Supplies, Dental (not covered by Medicaid), Adult Day Care, some special needs camps, Art modifications to home and vehicle modifications for wheelchairs. The agencies are required to provide a Program Coordinator who assist with the individual plan and needs. They are required if they receive thirty-one hours or more of staffing (HTS) hours to see the individual monthly. To see how training, the personal care is being handled and any needs that may need to be added to the plan. This gives the staff the opportunity to discuss if the person is having trouble or they are frustrated on how to train on a certain outcome to receive the assistance on how to do it or ideas to try. Staff is required to take the classes provided by DDS, maintain CPR/First Aide, if medication is given on the clock, they will be required to have MAT certification and individual specific training if needed. If staff takes the individual to any form of medical appointment, they have a form to get filled out and turned in along with timesheets weekly showing what outcomes and action steps they have worked on that week. The individual is required to maintain disability status with social security, Medicaid, and a yearly physical from their doctor to continue or receive services.
